A New Milwaukee Tradition

It was a blast to be asked to play this show in which MKE bands draft other bands and then cover their music live. It’s a reminder of how much talent and variety there is in this city – and that people from outside of it may not know that it’s here. Our set was de/reconstructed hip hop from Vincent Van Great which means I had ALOT of fun playing drums. (and BTW thank to Nick Lang from Buffalo Gospel for letting me use his vintage Ludwig kit for that chunky thump.)

Abby Jeanne and her awesome band did a great take on our stuff and I really wish I had been recording it because it was <insert fire emogi x 10>!!!

A Swing around the Heartland

DMC is packing up the van, grabbing some snacks and heading out for a quick 10 days around the Midwest.

Don’t worry about preseason football or the impending end of this gorgeous Summer, just come out and see us and have some fun!

It’s Coldwaves Time Again!

Well – it’s that time of year again, when I strap on the ‘ol bass guitar and fire up the industrial furnace to prepare for COLDWAVES III!

Year one was a crazy Cracknation hybrid set with CZAR, Acumen Nation and ILC tracks all in the set. Year two was a full on ILC set complete with all of our special guest friends.

This year is all Acumen Nation. The set time is a little shorter but we’re going to rip through 9 tracks from our now 20 year discography. WOW. How is that even possible?

I will be bassing it up for the set and maybe just maybe I’ll slide in to do one track on the drums. (Lefty drummer on a righty kit is always a good way to see how well my brain and limbs are at doing what they’re told.)

If you are anywhere near the Chicagoland area, you really need to be at these shows. 4 Days of amazing music and all to help honor and keep the memory alive of our dear friend who passed 3 years ago. Miss you Kidd.

Goodbye to Summer!

Well, it’s been a great Summer for playing shows (weird weather not withstanding) but September in Wisconsin basically means it’s time to start booking shows indoors.

It also means it’s time to do some recording! I can’t wait to line up some studio time and test out all of the cool new gear I’ve been working with this year. Especially Crescent Cymbals and Aquarian Drumheads, both of which have been more and more impressive every time I’ve used them. (Thanks Chris Brady and Michael Vosbein!)

Summerfest!

MMTU at Summerfest One of the best summer festivals in the whole world just happens to take place in Milwaukee, and we had the pleasure of playing it again recently on the newly named “Johnson Controls World Stage”. Also, sponsored by our pals at 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, this stage is a blast to play. I used the provided backline kit (Thanks Cascio Interstate Music!) which was a tangerine sparkle DW Maple/Mahogany kit with 12/16/22 and a 5x 14 snare plus my usual set of Sabian cymbals.

Well, Hello 2013!

Breaks are nice, aren’t they?

We ended 2012 with some great shows, including a nice arctic adventure with our pals in Field Report up in dreamy Minnesota, we rode out (part of) the winter and now we’re headed to balmy Toronto for the Folk Alliance International conference/festival.

I’ll be packing lots of warm socks and long undies and getting ready for that trek to the Great White North. And, I’ll possibly be rolling out some new gear this year. Canada get’s to see it first but I promise that you’ll see it all over America as well if it works out the way I hope it will. (if not, I’m sure embarrassing Youtube videos will have to be destroyed haha)
