To say it’s been along time since I updated my page is an understatement to the highest degree. Life got really crazy for a while, didn’t it?
The world? Sure, but also my life.
My Dad had a stroke; my Mom got dementia.
Dad had to do PT and rehab; Mom needed 24 hour care.
Dad had to have surgery; Mom got an in-home care person and a lot of my time caring for her.
Dad went back to PT and then into a long term care facility; Mom went into a memory care facility.
Dad worked hard to get out of his facility and got to live with his Grandson’s family; Mom broke her leg and didn’t understand PT.
Dad got a bad infection but the hospital sent him home because it was too full of COVID patients, Mom became non-ambulatory.
Dad’s infection got worse; Mom’s dementia got worse.
Dad went into the hospital and never came back out; Mom went into a bed and never got back out.
Dad Died. Mom got COVID and Pneumonia.
Dad was laid to rest, forever a Texan; Mom got better and plateaued for 4 years.
Then, on a plain and unremarkable day in 2026, my Mom decided enough was enough and died in hospice care. She was laid to rest with Dad and is also forever a Texan.
Money ran out a long time ago. We had to sell the house to pay for everything, but the 2011 Toyota lives on and on…
Me? I gained airline miles, hotel points and a lot of weight. And now after losing two parents, I’m also losing all of those other things.
Life is long, until it isn’t. And then it speeds by so fast one can barely keep up. But I plan on keeping up for a long time.
