Big News from MMTU

We are excited to announce the official release of our latest album
“Red-Winged Blackbird Man” due out in stores Sep 3rd 2013!!!

Red-winged cover official copy

We set out for 5 days of recording in Iowa City with Grammy nominated producer Bo Ramsey, but the team got along famously and completed the new record in 2.5 beautiful days! “The majority of our experience as a band is playing together live, and we didn’t want the recording process to be any different,” says Mike. “We set the room, took our places, pressed record and came out ahead. I can’t wait for people to share in what happened there”.

For those that have seen the band live since the album’s completion it has been made available at the shows. Sep 3rd marks the official release and moment it will be available to the general public through digital and physical distribution. Spread the word!! Speak of and buy often!!

(Way back during recording of this cd, I took some notes on gear that was used and I’ll rewrite a brief recap soon.)

Big Thanks to WGN TV!

Full view of the WGN studio

WOW! It was so much fun playing on WGN TV and the folks there were amazing. Growing up in the Chicago area, WGN was THE TVchannel – Bozo, Ray Reiner, Frazier Thomas classics on the weekend, Lester Fisher from the Lincoln Park Zoo. Man, it was just great to walk through the studio and watch them do the news and then get a chance to play them in and out of the breaks. Plus a full song at the end of the hour which you can see here:

A Trip to the Drum Pad

Finally made it to the Drum Pad in Palatine last Saturday, right before they were about to close. I wasn’t able to check out their drum room with all the kits BUT, I did have a few minutes to check out all of the sticks they carry – An entire wall to choose from!

Usually, I am a Vic Firth guy as far as sticks go, I love Regal Tip Whiskers and Bristle Sticks, but was never able to find a Regal Tip stick that I really loved….until now.

Thanks to the Drum Pad, I am now working out the Joey Waronker signature sticks (he’s a lefty too!) and the “Crossover” stick. I couldn’t find it on their website so I better go back there this weekend on my way to the Chicago Drum Show and stock up!
