Lately I’ve been noticing that my selection of sticks and “rods” haven’t been lasting as long. Sticks used to dimple and chip but you could get some substantial life out of them. My recent experience is that they just crack and break.
So, I thought I’d try out some SilverFox sticks. Due to their individual hand finishing approach.
From their website:
Most important to the player is the finish on the drumstick. And while other manufacturers finish their drumsticks in bulk tumblers using ordinary lacquer, SilverFox drumsticks are individually hand-finished using Duracrylx™, an exclusive formulation that is harder than lacquer and makes your SilverFox sticks LAST LONGER!
So, let’s see if this works. I picked up a half brick of the Bopmaster stick and a pair of B.O.D.s and I’ve got a week of shows. I’m going to document the process here and via social media and at the end of the run we’ll see if I’ve found myself a new stick company. 🙂
Disclaimer: I do not work for nor have I been paid by anyone to do this experiment. Aside from the occasional Twitter conversation I have not been contacted by SilverFox or any other entity to promote their product. I bought the sticks at retail price from their online website and the product was shipped to my home, opened and then put in my stick bag. No tricks or special/enhanced products are being used.
